After more than 25 year as principal flute in the most respected orchestras in Brazil, Rogerio Wolf is currently is dedicated to performing as a soloist and chamber musician. Mr. Wolf spent 20 years as principal flute in the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (1981 to 2001) and 3 years as the principal flute in the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra (2003 to 2006). In addition, he is the current president of the Brazilian Flute Association. Since he finished his regular orchestral work he has been invited to perform many concerts as a soloist. Including performances of the Khachaturian Flute Concerto, Rodrigo’s Concerto Pastoral and many others. Considered one of the most important flute teachers in Brazil, he has been invited to teach at several institutions and music festivals all over Brazil and abroad. He is currently the flute professor at the Escola Municipal de São Paulo, Faculdade Cantareira and Instituto Baccarelli in São Paulo. His discography includes: “Trio for Flute, Viola and Guitar, Music for Flute;” dedicated to Boismortier’s compositions and more recently, “Luminamara;” dedicated to contemporary Brazilian composers and “Retratos de Radamés;” which features the chamber music of Radamés Gnattali. In 2000 Mr. Wolf performed Ernst Widmer’s Concerto for two flutes during the 28th National Flute Convention in Columbus, Ohio. In 1999 he performed, with great success, an international tour with the pianist Fernando Tomimura in Germany, Finland, and Russia; helping to promote Brazilian music abroad. He studied with Jean Noel Saghaard and Renato Axelrud and attended master classes and courses abroad with prominent musicians such as James Galway, Jeanne Baxtresser, James Walker, Andreas Adorjan, and Pierre-Yves Artaud. Mr. Wolf’s substantial experience with orchestral performance has been well recognized throughout Brazil. He has been invited to participate in different ensembles and festivals with renowned conductors and artists, including Antonio Menezes, Luciano Pavarotti, Eva Marton and Paul Badura-Skoda. |
